Not so much a question as a comment. I'm so excited by this new project!! I have always love pictures of Ballet dancers, your so graceful, and everything is beautiful about it. I have never been able to attend a live Ballet before because of the are of GA I live in...all too far away :( And the chance to learn is exciting for me! Thank you for loving your craft and a willing heart to share it with others like me! Ready for class :D
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am very excited too! I think this will be very fun! I hope it attracts attention by showing people how much work is put into a performance! Keep checking back for more!
Welcome to my newest project. Many times in the past I have wished that I could put a small tidbit out into the internet for my readers to find, but have felt unable to do so until now. Through Digital Diverts, I will provide my blog readers, and new readers, with pictures, videos, and short comments about my experiences dancing with Miami City Ballet.
First, I am going to start a series illustrating how the company prepares a new program of ballets for the first weekend of performances. When MCB dancers return to work on the third of January, we will be five days away from the opening of Program II at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami. We have already spent many hours rehearsing the ballets that we will be performing on Friday, January 7th, Balanchine’s La Sonnambula, Tharp’s Baker’s Dozen, Balanchine’s Diana and Acteon, and Balanchine’s Western Symphony, but a lot of last minute preparations are also necessary. I plan to take you through these days leading up to opening night with photos, videos, and small updates right here on Digital Diverts.
I hope you will join me in this journey, but also take a moment to ask me a question. If you would like to know something specific regarding what it takes to prepare four ballets for their opening weekend, ask me by clicking the link to the right entitled, “Ask Me Anything.” I will answer all of your questions in my posts.
I hope you are as excited about this project as I am. I will see you all here on January 3rd, 2011.
